20th Chuet Day was celebrated with colorful arrangements
Chittagong, September 1, 2022 (BSS): The 20th day of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) was celebrated ‘CHUTE Day’ with day-long programs and enthusiasm.
After hoisting the national flag and the university flag in the morning, the day-long program was inaugurated with the release of balloons and peace pigeons.
Chuet vice chancellor professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam formally inaugurated the program of the day. Soon after this, a joyous rally was held on the occasion of the 20th University Day. Teachers, officers, employees and students of Chuet participated in the colorful rally with placards and festoons. Later, a commemorative tree was planted on the north side of the EME building to commemorate the University Day.
At 11 am in the central auditorium of the university, the chief guest of the discussion session organized on the occasion of the 20th day of Chuet, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, ‘Creation of new knowledge and public welfare research is the main work of a university. Following the government’s Vision 2041, Chuet has been working continuously since its inception to build Smart Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently inaugurated the country’s first Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator at university level at Chuet Campus. We hope that the young generation will be able to lead the 4th industrial revolution by taking advantage of this incubator.
The chief speaker of the event, Ekushey medalist poet and eminent journalist Abul Momen said, ‘Future technology and sustainable development should be worked on. We must not only be consumers of knowledge and innovation. We also have to come into the role of creator. That is why engineering society and scientists have to play a key role. I believe Chuet has the potential to produce such skilled human resources.’
Chuet Student Welfare Director Prof. Dr. Md. Under the chairmanship of Rezaul Karim, Dean of Engineering and Technology Faculty was the special guest. Professor Sunil Dhar, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Md. Professor Moinul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology. Mohammad Moshiul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan. A documentary on Chuet was shown at the beginning of the programme.
At the end of the discussion meeting, there was a blood donation program at Chute Medical Centre, followed by a teacher vs student and officer vs staff friendly football match and prize distribution.
Incidentally, on September 1, 2003, Chuet debuted as the only higher education institution for engineering and technology education and research in the southeastern region of Bangladesh. The institution started as ‘Chittagong Engineering College’ on 28 December 1968 under the Faculty of Engineering of Chittagong University. Later on July 1, 1986, it was established as an autonomous ‘BIT, Chittagong’.
