Dubai, 31 August: Due to slow over-rate (Slow Over-Rate) in Asia Cup (Asia Cup 2022), India and Pakistan (Pakistan) teams have been fined. Both teams were fined 40 percent of their match fees. The International Cricket Council (ICC) said this on Wednesday. India and Pakistan bowled less than 2 overs in the allotted time, hence the penalty imposed by Jeff Crowe of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

On-field umpires Masudur Rahman and Ruchira Piliyaguruge, third umpire Ravindra Wimalasiri and fourth umpire Ghazi Sohail complained of slow over-rates, the ICC said in a statement. The captains of both teams pleaded guilty and accepted the proposed fines. A formal hearing is therefore not required.
