Faridpur: Dumain Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Shah Md. The district administration has announced reward for helping arrest Asaduzzaman Tapan and member Ajit Kumar Sarkar.
Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan Talukder announced this in a press briefing on the overall issue after the Madukhali incident on Friday (April 26) evening.
He said, in view of the request of the committee formed to investigate the incident, their time has been extended for another seven days.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan is a habitual offender. He knows exactly where and how to hide. He left behind the mobile phone before going into hiding. Earlier we identified his position in Magura. But Jessore escaped when a raid was launched to arrest him. After that, an operation was launched to catch him in Jessore, but he was not found.
Kamrul Ahsan Talukder said UP Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan was dismissed twice earlier. Once due to attack on UNO and another time due to TCB card corruption. He appealed to the High Court twice and regained his post. Due to this, a kind of reckless attitude has developed in him. He thought he would get away with whatever crime he committed.
Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan was also seen with the minister during the visit of Minister of Religion Faridul Haque Khan to Panchpalli after the incident. In response to this question, the Deputy Commissioner said that due to his dual role, he was not put in the list of suspects. But when the video footage surfaced, he went into hiding.
The Deputy Commissioner asked those involved in the incident to surrender quickly. They can take their legal advantage.
He said, we want everyone’s cooperation in arresting the accused in the case filed in this incident. We want everyone’s cooperation to hand them over. If anyone can also inform the location of other accused, they will be given suitable reward.
He praised the role of the media in the Panchpalli incident and said that after the incident, the journalists of Faridpur did not do a single news that could destroy the communal harmony. Hon’ble Prime Minister also praised the journalists of Faridpur for their behavior. After the incident, they stayed with us at the scene that night. Since they were present at every place and presented the whole matter properly, no one got the opportunity to spread the poisonous vapors that was about to spread around the incident.
‘So far you have behaved responsibly enough. It has preserved the dignity of the entire Faridpur. In the rest of the days, we all can continue this coexistence in Faridpur. ‘
The Deputy Commissioner said, “If there is any news of attempts to create an unstable situation based on this incident, I request you to provide information about it.”
However, the Deputy Commissioner also complained that some quarters are trying to identify this incident as communal. He said, they are presenting it as killing of Muslim laborers by Hindus. This is not correct.
He gave details of the overall assistance provided by the district administration besides cash financial assistance from the Minister of Religion and Minister of Fisheries and Livestock to the families of the victims. Besides, he said that initiatives are being taken to provide food and employment for the treatment of the injured and their families for livelihood.
He requested everyone to be careful so that no one can use this incident for communal incitement.
The Deputy Commissioner said, after this incident, Additional District Magistrate (Nezarat) Md. A three-member committee was formed headed by Ali Siddiqui. However, the investigation could not be completed on time due to the circumstances that arose after the incident. That’s why they asked for time. In view of their written application, the tenure of the inquiry committee has been extended for another seven days.
He said, there is no reason to fear the innocent people in this incident. An attempt is being made to divert the situation by attacking a house. For this, sufficient police will be deployed in Madukhali until the accused are arrested and the investigation report is submitted.
Additional District Magistrate (Nazarat) Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, Deputy Director of DDLG Roshan Chowdhury, Additional District Commissioner (General) Yasin Kabir, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tamanna Tasnim, President of Faridpur Press Club Kabirul Islam Siddiqui and officials from various levels of the district administration and journalists were present in the press conference.
On April 18 around 7:30 in the evening, two teenage laborers Ashraful Khan (17) and Arshadul Khan (15) were killed by beating them with bamboo, sticks and rods and crushing them with bricks on the suspicion of setting fire to the Kali temple in Panchpalli, Dumain, Madhukhali. Five others were seriously injured. They were working there in the construction of toilets of Panchapally Primary School. Four cases have been filed in this incident.
