In the case of two brothers being brutally beaten to death in Panchpalli of Madhukhali, Faridpur, Dumain Union Chairman Shah Md. Substantial evidence of the involvement of Asaduzzaman Tapan and member Ajit Kumar Biswas has been found. The district administration has announced that if anyone helps in their arrest, they will be given a suitable reward.
Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar announced this in a press briefing on the overall issue after the Madukhali incident on Friday (April 26) evening. At that time, he said that the time of the investigation committee has been extended by 7 days following the request of the committee formed to investigate the incident.
At that time, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamrul Ahsan Talukder said that Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan is a habitual offender and a criminal by nature. He knows well where and how to hide. He left behind the mobile phone before going into hiding. Earlier we locate his position in Magura. But Jessore escaped when a raid was launched to arrest him. After that, an operation was launched to catch him in Jessore, but he was not found.
UP Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan was sacked twice earlier. He was sacked once for the attack on UNO and another time for the TCB card scam. He appealed to the High Court twice and regained his post. Therefore, a kind of reckless attitude has developed in him. He thought he would get away with whatever crime he committed.
After the incident, Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan was seen in the Minister’s program during the visit of the Minister of Religion after the incident. In response to a question, the Deputy Commissioner said that he was not put in the list of suspicions because of his dual role. But after the release of the video footage, he went into hiding. He asked those involved in the incident to surrender quickly. They take their legal advantage.
He said, we want everyone’s cooperation in arresting the accused in the case filed in this incident. We want everyone’s cooperation to hand them over. If anyone can inform the location of other accused also they will be given suitable reward.
He praised the role of the media in the Panchpalli incident and said that after the incident, the journalists of Faridpur did not do any news that could destroy the communal harmony. The Deputy Commissioner said, if anyone has any information about the attempt to create an unstable situation around this incident, I request you to provide information.
However, the Deputy Commissioner alleged that some quarters are trying to identify this incident as communal. They are presenting it as killing of Muslim workers by Hindus. This is not correct. Many are helping in various ways by making videos to garner sympathy and by spreading them there is a fear that events may turn out differently.
The Deputy Commissioner said, like the Islamic parties, we also demand proper investigation and trial. When a movement is called, all kinds of people enter it. Even during the blockade, there was an attempt to carry out the movement in a different direction.
Apart from cash financial support from the Minister of Religion and Minister of Fisheries and Livestock to the families of the victims, he presented information about the overall support from the district administration and said that initiatives are being taken to provide food and employment for the treatment of the injured and their families for livelihood. Therefore, we ask for everyone’s cooperation so that no group can carry out malicious attempts to achieve special objectives regarding this incident. He also requested everyone to be careful so that no one can use this incident for communal incitement.
The Deputy Commissioner said, after this incident, Additional District Magistrate (Nezarat) Md. A three-member committee was formed headed by Ali Siddiqui. However, the investigation could not be completed on time due to the circumstances that arose after the incident. That’s why they asked for time. In view of their written application, the period of investigation committee has been extended by another 7 days.
He said, there is no reason to fear the innocent people in this incident. An attempt is being made to divert the situation by attacking a house. For this, he said that sufficient police will be deployed in Madhukhali until the accused are arrested and the investigation report is submitted.
