Cricket world shocked as Kings XI Punjab set new world record on Friday. Driven by Jonny Bairstow’s incredible century, Kings XI Punjab chased down the target of 262 runs set by Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets in the IPL match on Friday, registering a new world record highest number of runs in the history of T20 cricket. In March last year, PBKS defeated South Africa and posted a score of 259/4 against the West Indies. In the IPL, Rajasthan Royals recently scored 224 against KKR at the Eden Gardens, equaling the record they set against the then Kings XI Punjab (now Kings XI Punjab) in Sharjah in 2020.

Talking about the match, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 261/6 but PBKS ended the chase with 8 balls to spare.

Phil Salter (75 off 37) and Sunil Narine (71 off 32) put on 138 runs in the KKR opener.

The opener then consolidated the home side’s position and guided them to a magnificent score.

In reply, PBKSO got off to a good start and corrected the score to 93 runs. Prabhusimran Singh a wicket in the powerplay.

Pravsimran scored 54 off 20 balls but was run out in the end. Bairstow continued his brutal onslaught to register a stunning victory for PBKS. Bairstow (108 off 48 balls) got great support from Shashank Singh, who scored 68 off just 28 balls.
