A young man named Sohail Khan (22) killed his mother in Faridganj of Chandpur by demanding marriage. The incident took place at Ichapur village of Paikpara (South) Union of the upazila at 3:30 yesterday. He fled after the incident. His father’s name is Atar Ali Khan. Police and eyewitnesses said that Sohail had been harassing his parents for months demanding marriage. Yesterday he suddenly hit his mother with a sharp bite. After some time he called some people and said, ‘I have killed mother’. People rushed there to know the truth. Then UP Chairman Rajan Khan informed the police. On receiving the information, the police recovered the body and took it to Faridganj police station to send it to the morgue.
The killer’s father, Atar Ali, said, ‘I always used to go to this place. Even before 10-12 days, I and her are dying. He was mad to marry. Ai on Kirtam. How to kill in the fire.’ Eyewitnesses said that Sohail was often pressuring his parents to get married. Beats parents including using obscenities. He doesn’t even do any work. Education did not do so. Occasionally worked in various shops. Her parents did not agree to the marriage as her income was not guaranteed. Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Dey said, initially we think Sohail might have killed his mother. He himself told some people on the phone, I killed my mother. Besides, he ran away. Ranu has injuries of sharp weapons in different parts of his body. Bleeding profusely. All our teams have started working simultaneously to arrest Sohail. I hope the process of the case will be completed soon.
