Reckless chairman Tapan, the father of the two dead workers was beaten to death for not paying the demand

Shah Md. Asaduzzaman Tapan, chairman of the local Dumaine Union Parishad, discussed the incident of fire and beating to death of two workers in Dumaine Union Panchpalli of Madhukhali Upazila of Faridpur. This chairman was already discussed and criticized for various reasons. The father of the two workers killed, his two children were killed for not paying the demand.

Dumain UP chairman Shah Md. Asaduzzaman Tapan’s name had already come up in the case of extortion and extortion. He established control in the area with his own forces. If anyone protested his usurpation, he would torture him. Many have been displaced by his torture.

This chairman used to earn money by arbitrage trading. On May 4, 2023, he was dismissed for obstructing the government’s shelter project and beating UNO. However, he returned to the post later on the orders of the High Court. Also, there are allegations of irregularities in the implementation of various projects of the Union Parishad.

Shahjahan Khan, the father of the two deceased brothers, alleged that UP Chairman Tapan was directly involved in the beating of workers in Panchpally on April 18.

He said, a few days before the incident, my son told me on the mobile phone that there was trouble there. A local member asked for a donation, which led to a verbal argument with them. Then the attack happened.

Shahjahan Khan said, Chairman Tapan started beating my son first. After that everyone including Ajit members beat them up. They beat my children to death for non-payment. We have seen in the video that this attack was carried out under the leadership of Tapan Chairman. Till now the police could not arrest Tapan chairman and Ajit member. I demand that they be quickly arrested and given an exemplary trial.

Rizia Begum, a resident of Choperghat village, said that our two children were beaten to death. Locals including Ajit members attacked under the leadership of the chairman. Tapan chairman has got away with many incidents before. Chairman and members should be arrested quickly.

Rashedul Islam, a local resident, said that earlier he blocked the construction of the shelter project. With that, the chairman and his people attacked UNO. He was also arrested in that case. Later he came out on bail and returned to his glory.

Several local residents complained that the Tapan chairman has his own forces in the area. Despite doing various misdeeds, no one speaks against him out of fear. He continues various misdeeds including encroachment, extortion. He is also the owner of Bikash Pratarak Chakra. When any member of the fraudulent gang is in trouble, he immediately stands by their side and saves them. A huge amount of money comes to him from here too.

On the evening of April 18, local people gathered after receiving the news of a fire in the statue of a local temple. In this incident, they suspect 7 workers who were working in the construction of the toilet of Panchapally Primary School.

After going to school they were blocked and beaten. He was seriously injured but kept in the classroom. Initially police and upazila administration tried but failed to control the situation.

Later, additional members of the district police and administration went to the spot and rescued the injured and took them to the hospital. Doctors declared two brothers named Ashraful and Ershadul dead there. The deceased are sons of Ashraful and Ershadul Shahjahan Khan of Choperghat village in Naopara Union of Madhukhali Upazila.

In two videos of 15 and 43 seconds that went viral on social media on April 21, a person can be seen being beaten on the floor in a school classroom. At that time Dumain UP Chairman Shah Md Asaduzzaman Tapan and UP member Ajit Kumar Biswas were seen fighting.

Meanwhile, UP Chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan and member Ajit Bishas covered up after the release of that video. Local residents demand that the UP chairman and members be arrested quickly.

Meanwhile, a team led by Hefajat Islam Bangladesh Secretary General Maulana Sajidur Rahman came to the house of the deceased workers on Thursday afternoon. He also demanded the arrest of the chairman and members involved in the murder. He said that the video of the time of the attack showed that the chairman and members were attacked by locals. They also demand the quick arrest of others involved.

Faridpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Morshed Alam said four cases have been registered in connection with the attack. Twelve people have been arrested in connection with the beating of two workers. Apart from this, an operation is being conducted to arrest Dumain UP chairman and members of the concerned ward.

Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur Md. Kamrul Ahsan Talukder said that a three-member investigation committee headed by Additional District Magistrate Md. Ali Siddiqui has been formed in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
