The mother was killed by slitting her throat because she did not agree to marry him
Mizan Liton, Chandpur: [২] The incident took place in Ichapur village of Paikpara South Union of Faridganj Upazila on Friday (April 26) afternoon.
[৩] The murdered mother’s name is Ranu Begum (55). Police could not arrest the killer’s son Rachel (22) as he was absconding after the incident. Faridganj Thana Police recovered Morhed from the scene in the afternoon after receiving the information.
[৪] The deceased’s husband Atar Khan said, Rachel is the youngest among my 3 daughters and 2 sons. For the past few days, we have been threatening to get her married. He killed me too. I work as a cook in a local madrasa. My son calls me and says who is keeping his mother slaughtered at home.
[৫] Then I was sure that my wife was killed by her child. As soon as I hung up the phone, I came home and saw the dead body of my wife Ranu Begum lying on the bed. My son Rachel has run away. Later on my post the locals came and informed the police.
[৬] Local Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Hossain Ahmed Rajan Sheikh said, I rushed to the spot after receiving the news. I came to know that Rachel is the youngest among the 5 children of the deceased. The elder son Farooq lives in Dhaka for the last 5 years. Does not keep track of parents at home. As the remaining 3 daughters are married, they live in their husband’s house. Rachel works as a laborer in a grocery store in Faridganj market. For the past few days she has been threatening her parents to get her married. If she is not married, she will kill her parents. I want the concerned administration to prosecute this murder by proper investigation.
[৭] Faridganj police officer-in-charge (OC) confirmed the matter. Saidul Islam said that Ranu Begum’s body was recovered from the spot after receiving the news. According to Ranu Begum’s husband Atar Khan and her daughter Shaheen, she was killed by her younger son Rachel. Accused Rachel is absconding. An operation is underway to arrest him.
