South Dinajpur: Today, Friday is the second phase of Lok Sabha polls. 13 states and Union Territories of the country are voting in a total of 88 constituencies. In this phase, polling was held in three constituencies in Bengal.

Common people of the border areas of South Dinajpur district surrounded by border on three sides were seen voting. At Srikrishnapur and Jamalpur across the barbed wire fence in Hili block of the district. Total voters are 722 people. Basically the residents of the two villages have polling stations inside the barbed wire border. On this day, all new and old voters were seen standing in the voting line. The voters of these two villages participated in this voting festival.

Their voting started in the morning. Indian voters on the other side of the barbed wire on the India-Bangladesh border cast their votes smoothly. However, the voter card had to be shown twice to the security guards. Once India crossed the barbed wire fence on the Bangladesh border, the Indian Border Force personnel on duty had to show their voter cards and take permission to enter the polling station. On reaching the polling station, central forces were deployed for security.

Voters on the other side have to show their voter card once more before entering the polling station. However, even though the security is tight, they are happy to cross the barbed wire fence and vote today. However, in the hope that the daily problems between them will be solved quickly, the residents of Hili border who live on the other side of the barbed wire fence exercised their right to vote in this year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Darjeeling, Raiganj and Balurghat – these three constituencies will be polled. A total of 272 companies of central forces have been deployed in the state in this phase of polling. Among them, there are 88 companies of central forces for Darjeeling. There are 73 companies of central force for Balurghat center. Raiganj has the largest number of central forces – 111 companies. The state police is also in charge of security. A total of 12,983 state police are on polling duty.
