A farmer named Abdul Hakeem Jamaddar (62) was killed and seven others were injured in Morelganj of Bagerhat. The murder incident took place in Guatla village of Nishanbaria union of Morelganj upazila on Friday (April 26) morning.

The deceased Abdul Hakim is the son of Ayub Ali Jamaddar of Guatla village. In this incident, police raided and arrested four people including Salam Fakir.

The injured are Harun Jamaddar (50), Latif Jamaddar (55), Rashid Jamaddar (42), Alam Howladar (70), Liton Howladar (45), wife Jamila Begum (50) and son Mehdi Hasan (35).

His younger brother Matiar Rahman Jamaddar said that this farmer was killed in a sudden attack by opponents of the same village due to a land dispute.

He said that in the morning, neighbor Shahidul Hawladar attacked his brother Hakim Jamaddar with 10-12 people in the first round. When he left for treatment when he was injured, he was arrested on the way, beaten and left on the road with serious injuries. When relatives rescued him and took him to Morelganj Upazila Hospital, the doctor on duty. Shahriar Fattah declared dead.

Morelganj police station OC Mohammad Samsuddin said in the afternoon that one person was killed and several others were injured in the beating. The case is being prepared. Salam Fakir and four people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
