Two motorcycle riders were killed after being hit by a cow-laden vat (slow-powered engine) at Hakimpur Hilli in Dinajpur.
The incident took place at zero point of Hakimpur upazila on the north side of Dangapara market on the Hili-Birampur regional road on Friday, April 26.
The two dead motorcycle riders are Dhiman Kumar Ghosh (35) son of Dhiraj Kumar of Kumarpara village of Nawabganj upazila and Arif Hossain (35) son of Anarul of Daudpur area of the same upazila.
Hakimpur police station quoting witnesses said that around noon, two friends were traveling from Hili to Birampur on their way to Birampur on their way to Birampur. Two friends died on the spot.
Swapan Kumar, a resident of Hakimpur Hilli Municipality, uncle of the deceased Dhiman Kumar Ghosh, said, today around 12:30 noon, my sister Dhiman Kumar called me on the mobile phone, “Uncle, I was coming to Hilli for urgent work, so I could not meet you.” After some time I heard about the accident and came to the hospital to find my niece dead.
Hakimpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Md. confirmed the matter. Dulal Hossain said that after receiving the news of the death of two motorcycle riders in a road accident at noon, the police immediately sent to the scene. Later, the cow-carrying van was seized from the spot and brought to the police station and the victims were brought to the hospital. Later, as there was no objection from the family of the deceased, the body was given to them.
