A farmer named Abdul Hakeem Jomaddar (62) was killed and 7 others were injured in an attack by his opponent in Bagerhat’s Morelganj. The murder incident took place in Guatla village of Nishanbaria union of Morelganj upazila on Friday morning. The deceased Abdul Hakim is the son of Ayub Ali Zomaddar of Guatla village. In this incident, police raided and arrested 4 people including Salam Fakir.
The other injured are Harun Jomaddar (50), Latif Jomaddar (55), Rashid Jomaddar (42), Alam Howladar (70), Liton Howladar (45), wife Jamila Begum (50) and son Mehdi Hasan (35). His younger brother Matiar Rahman Jomaddar said that Hakeem Jomaddar was killed in a sudden attack by opponents of the same village due to a land dispute.
Matiar Rahman Jomaddar said that in the morning, neighbor Shahidul Howladar attacked his brother Hakim Jomaddar with 10-12 people.
When Hakeem went to treat Zomadda while he was injured, he was arrested on the way, beaten and left on the road with serious injuries. When the relatives rescued him and took him to Morelganj Upazila Hospital, the doctor on duty. Shahriar Fattah declared him dead.
Morelganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Samsuddin said in the afternoon that one person was killed and several others were injured in the fight. Preparations are underway to file a case. 4 people including Salam Fakir have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
