A young man named Roni Burman (23) died after being trapped in the pipe of an abandoned tubewell in Nachol Upazila of Chapainawabganj. On Friday afternoon, the fire service recovered his body from the pipe of East Nizampur-Hindu Para village of Nizampur union of the upazila. Roni Burman is the son of Chaitanya Burman of the same village.

According to the local police, Roni Burman got stuck in the pipe of Varendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) deep tubewell while coming from home to play as usual in the morning. The fire service rushed to the spot on the news that people were trapped in the pipe at a depth of about 110 feet. They tried for 5 and a half hours and recovered Roni Burman’s body.

Ataur Rahman, a local resident of Nachol, said that Roni Burman is a mentally unbalanced young man. The three got stuck in the abandoned tube well pipe of BMDA when they came to play like everyday. Later fire service personnel came and rescued him dead.

Nachol Fire Service Station Officer-in-Charge Entazul Haque said that a fire service team went to the spot after receiving information that a young man was trapped in the pipe of an abandoned deep well. After a long time he was found dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nachol Police Station Tarekur Rahman Sarkar said, one person died after getting stuck in the pipe of the abandoned tubewell. His body is in the police station. The body will be handed over to the family through legal arrangements.
