The incident took place in Batkuchi Tilapara, a hilly village of the upazila around nine o’clock on Thursday night. The deceased Omar Mistry is the son of deceased Tamiz Uddin of that village.

According to local sources, Omar Mistry of Batkuchi village in Poragaon Union of the upazila went to guard his paddy fields at night like any other day. However, on Thursday night, he was alone in the paddy field inside the hill, although there were many local farmers around on other nights. In this situation, between eight and nine o’clock in the night, a group of wild elephants came down from the hill and suddenly attacked Omar Mistry.
