A farmer named Abdul Hakim Jomaddar (62) was killed in an attack by his opponent due to a dispute over land in Bagerhat’s Morelganj. 7 others were injured in the attack. The incident took place in Guatla village of Nishanbaria Union on Friday (April 26) morning.

Abdul Hakim Zomaddar is the son of Ayub Ali Zomaddar of Guatla village in Nishanbaria Union. The injured are Harun Jomadder (50), Latif Jomadder (55), Rashid Jomadder (42), Alam Howlader (70), Liton Howlader (45), Jamila Begum (50) and Mehdi Hasan (35).

The younger brother of the victim, Matiar Rahman Jomaddar, said that 10-12 people led by Shahidul Howladar, a neighbor of the same village, attacked his brother Hakim Jomaddar on Friday morning due to a dispute over land. Then on the way to take him to the hospital, they again blocked the road and cut him and seriously injured him. Later he was rescued from there and taken to Morelganj Upazila Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Morelganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Samsuddin said that one person was killed in a land dispute. Now the situation in the area is calm. Legal proceedings are ongoing in this regard.
