A farmer named Abdul Hakim Jomaddar (62) was killed in an attack by his opponent in Morelganj Upazila of Bagerhat. Besides, 7 people were injured in this incident.
The murder took place in Guatla village of the upazila on Friday morning. The deceased Abdul Hakim is the son of Ayub Ali Zomaddar of Guatla village. The injured are Haroon Jomadder (50), Latif Jomadder (55), Rashid Jomadder (42), Alam Howlader (70), Liton Howlader (45), Jamila Begum (50) and Mehdi Hasan (35). The injured have been admitted to Morelganj Upazila Hospital.
The younger brother of the victim, Matiar Rahman Jomaddar, said that a group of terrorists led by Shahidul Howladar, a neighbor of the same village, attacked brother Hakim Jomaddar in the morning due to a land dispute. When Hakeem Zomadda went to the hospital for treatment while he was injured, he was arrested on the way, beaten and hacked and seriously injured. When the relatives went to rescue him, they also beat and injured 7 of them. Later, the seriously injured Hakim Jomaddar was rescued and taken to Morelganj Upazila Hospital. Shahriar Fattah declared him dead.
Morelganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Samsuddin said that one person was killed and 7 people were injured in the attack by the opponent due to a land dispute. Police recovered the dead body of Hakeem Jomadda and sent it to Bagerhat 250 bed hospital morgue for post mortem. Police have been deployed in the area. Police have launched an operation to nab the killers of the deceased Hakeem Jomaddar.
