A journalist named Shariful Islam Sharif (42) died in a road accident in Kushtia.

He died while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 5:30 am on Friday (April 26). Sharif is the son of deceased Nader Ali Mandal of Gatepara village in Dhubail Union of Mirpur Upazila.

Sharif was the Mirpur upazila correspondent of Amar Sangbad newspaper published from Dhaka. He was also the General Secretary of Mirpur Reporters Unity.

He is survived by his wife and a son.

It is known that he was returning home on a motorcycle from Kushtia last Thursday (April 25).

On the way, his motorcycle collided with a Pakhivan (three-wheeler) in front of JTI in Tantibandha area of ​​Kushtia-Meherpur regional road. Sharif was seriously injured. In this situation, local people rescued him and took him to Kushtia General Hospital. When his condition worsened, he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment. He died while undergoing treatment there.

Bangladesh Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif MP and Kushtia-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Md. Kamarul Arefin have expressed grief over the incident.
