State Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that expatriate Bengalis are two-time friends of Bangladesh. They stood beside Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman even before the liberation war. Likewise, the contribution of expatriate Bengalis to the country during the liberation war is unique.

He addressed the Awami League leaders and activists from different cities of the United Kingdom who came to welcome him at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday (April 24) at 4 pm London local time.

Bangladesh High Commissioner in UK, Sayeda Muna Tasnim, welcomed him. United Kingdom Awami League President Sultan Mahmud Sharif, General Secretary Syed Sajidur Rahman Farooq led by Awami League leaders and activists and community members were present.

Member of Parliament Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, elected from Sylhet-2 (Bishwanath-Osmaninagar) constituency, highlighted the development progress of Sheikh Hasina’s government and said that Bangladesh is moving towards a developed country today. The country is self-sufficient in food, Bangladesh is moving forward economically. Bangladesh of immense potential will be transformed into Smart Bangladesh in 2041 under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
