Due to intense heat, the market has become empty of buyers. The presence of buyers in the market was not seen due to the heat. Although there is supply of vegetables in the market to meet the demand of the buyers, the price of vegetables has not decreased. The prices of vegetables are increasing as the heat and temperature. A similar scenario was seen in fish and meat markets.

The situation is the same in the fish and meat market. Broiler is being sold at Tk 210 per kg. Gold 320 rupees. Again the price of beef has exceeded 750 rupees.

Tilapia 210 and fifty 200 taka depending on size in the fish market. Which was sold at almost the same price last week. Among other fish, the price of medium and large-scale farming of Rui, Katla and Mrigel fish is being sold starting from Tk 300 to Tk 400 per kg. Apart from this, Pabda, Tengra, Kai, Boal, Chital, Ayur and Hilsa fish are not below 550 rupees.

Vegetable seller Afzal Mia told Dhaka Times that it is very difficult to sell in summer. As there are not many customers in the market, sales are also low. Vegetables cannot be stored for a long time, many of them spoil. We have to count losses in this raw material business.

Fish seller Nizam Bepari told Dhaka Times that the price of fish is one in the morning and another in the night. If we sell tilapia fish for Tk 220 in the morning, we have to sell Tk 200 at night. Demand is high so fish has to be brought twice a day. This increases the cost. What else do we have to increase the price of fish?

Clothing worker Habiba told Dhaka Times, ‘I always come to the market to buy. My mother has come from Geram to visit my house. I see that the price has gone up to buy meat and fish. Later I took all the positions. Later I went to buy curry and saw that the price of curry has also been increased. I’m going home with some curry.’

Subir Babu is selling vegetables in a van. He told Dhaka Times, “All vegetables for me are fresher and cheaper than market vegetables. I strip all beicha in two hours. The price is increasing more than before but the taste of eating vegetables is found in summer. So sales are high.’
