Two cargo trucks collided head-on at Ghoraghat in Dinajpur, killing two people on the spot. The accident took place at TNT Mission intersection of Ghoraghat-Dhaka highway of Ghoraghat upazila around 6:30 am on Friday (April 26).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ghoraghat police station Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter.
The deceased truck driver Golam Rabbi (45) is the son of Mumtaz of Amdai area of Jaipurhat district headquarters. His associate Rezwan Islam (28) is a resident of Chaumuhani in the same area.
According to locals and police, around 6:30 am on Friday morning, a grain-laden truck (Dhaka Metro-T-206649) from Dinajpur collided head-on with a grain-laden truck (Jhenaidah-T-111646) coming from the opposite direction. When the locals informed the fire service about this incident, they came and rescued two seriously injured people from the scene and took them to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex.
Ghoraghat Fire Service Officer Ataur Rahman said, ‘We came to the spot after receiving information about the collision between two trucks in the morning and rescued two people and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex.’
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex Dr. Sa-ad As Sams said, “In the morning, fire service members brought 2 dead patients to our hospital. The incident has been reported to the police.’
Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asaduzzaman said that a head-to-head collision between two trucks, Bhutta and Sarbozhai, took place in TNT Mor area of the upazila. In between, the corn-laden truck leaving Dinajpur was hit by a grain-laden truck heading towards Dinajpur city. The driver and assistant of the corn laden truck died on the spot. Two trucks have been impounded. Legal action is being taken in this incident.
