A motorcycle rider named Shaheen Mia was killed after being crushed by the wheels of a truck in Patgram of Lalmonirhat. Two others were seriously injured in the incident. The accident took place in front of Kallatari Ucha Bridge of Burimari Union on the Dhaka-Burimari highway at 10 pm on Thursday (April 25). The deceased is the son of Abdul Ghafoor of Burimari Stationpara area of Mia Upazila.
According to the police and local sources, while 2 people including the motorcyclist and the rider were going to Burimari from Patgram, a motorcycle collided with a stone-laden truck on the paved road going to Burimari-Lalmonirhat in Kallatari Ucha bridge area of Burimari union of the upazila. At that time, the motorcycle rider was crushed by the truck and died on the spot.
The injured are Abdul Malek son Oliur Rahman Alu (40) and Abdul Khalil son Rafiqul Islam (45) of Stationpara area of the same union of the upazila. As their condition is serious, they were referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said the medical officer in charge of Patgram Upazila Health Complex.
UP member of Burimari Union Parishad, Hasanuzzaman Hasan said, on the way from Patgram, I saw some people lying on Kallatari Ucha Bridge. I got down from the car and saw one dead and two lying with the motorcycle.
Abu Saeed Chowdhury, officer in charge of Patgram police station, confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a motorcycle rider named Shahin (45) was killed after being crushed by the wheel of a truck in Kallatari Ucha Bridge area. Two people were injured.
