Lok Sabha Election 2024 | The second phase of polling is going on in the country, the fate of Rahul-Tharur-Hema will be decided today

North Bengal News Digital Desk: Polling for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections began on Friday. (Loksabha Election 2024). Voting is taking place in 88 constituencies across the country. In this phase, the fate of several star candidates will be decided. These include Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, BJP’s Hema Malini, Arun Govil and several other candidates.

Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Wayanad constituency in Kerala. He is competing with CPI’s Annie Raja and BJP’s K Surendran. In the 2019 elections, Rahul contested from Amethi and Wayanad. BJP lost Amethi seat to Smriti Irani but won Wanad seat.

On the other hand, veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor is contesting the Thiruvananthapuram seat. He is hopeful of retaining this seat. Tharoor is contesting against BJP’s Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar and CPI’s Panniyan Rabindran.

Veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini is contesting against Congress’s Mukesh Dhangar from the Mathura seat. Meanwhile, Kota’s two-time MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is pitted against Prahlad Gunjal of the Congress.

On the other hand, actor Arun Govil is the BJP candidate for Meerut seat. He rose to fame playing the role of Lord Rama in the popular TV show Ramayana. He is up against Bahujan Samaj Party’s Debabratakumar Tyagi and Samajwadi Party’s Sunita Verma.
