Two vegetable sellers named Abdus Salam (50) and Chanoar Hossain (45) were killed when a covered van ran over them in Gola bus stand area of ​​Saturia upazila of Manikganj on Dhaka-Aricha highway.

The accident happened around 7:30 am on Friday (April 26). The house of the slain vegetable sellers is in Katigram area of ​​Manikganj Sadar Upazila.

According to police and local sources, Abdus Salam, son of deceased Saijuddin of Katigram area, and Chanwar Hossain, son of Abdus Samad, were going to their locality after buying vegetables from Manikganj Jagir Sabzi Aarat in the morning. On the way, the van carrying them was run over by a covered van at Gola bus stand area. At that time, the van driver fell on the side of the road, but the two vegetable sellers died on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Gola Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukhendu Basu said, locals said that two vegetable sellers died on the spot when a covered van hit them at reckless speed. The body of the deceased was recovered and sent to the mortuary of the District Headquarters Hospital.

He also said that efforts are on to arrest the killer covered van and driver in this incident. Appropriate legal action is under process in this incident.
