The central leaders of Hefazte Islam have visited the scene of beating to death of two laborers in Dumain Union Panchpalli of Madukhali Upazila of Faridpur and to inquire about the families of the victims. They demanded the arrest and punishment of the culprits, otherwise Hefajat Islam will announce the movement program across the country.
During this time, they visited the graves of the two deceased brothers after talking to the families of the victims and the locals and gave financial assistance to their families.
On Thursday afternoon, they went to the house of the deceased in Choperghat area of Madhukhali’s Nawapara Union.
At that time, Hazrat Maulana Sajedur Rahman, Secretary General of Hefajat Islam, Joint Secretary General Maulana Azizul Haque, Amir of Dhaka Metropolitan Maulana Kafayet Ullah and other party leaders were present. Also present were Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhukhali Police Station Miraj Hossain and Assistant Superintendent of Police of Madhukhali Circle Mizanur Rahman.
The Secretary General of Hefazat Islam told reporters that after watching the video footage of the incident and talking to the locals, it has been understood that Dubai Union Chairman and two members are directly involved in this incident. We will call upon the administration to conduct a sound investigation into the matter and ensure the swift arrest of the chairman and two members directly involved in the incident and the exemplary maximum punishment. Otherwise Hefajat Islam will announce the movement program across the country.
Last Thursday evening, the angry people attacked the construction workers stationed in a nearby primary school after the incident of fire in a Kali temple in Panchpalli village of Dumain Union of Madhukhali upazila.
Two workers lost their lives in mob beating. They are Shahjahan Khan’s son Ashraful (21) and his brother Ashadul (15) of Ghoper Ghat village of Nawapara union of the upazila. Five more workers injured in the incident are undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the father of the victims, Shajahan Khan, said that a few days before the incident, some locals asked my sons for a rod from the construction work. But my sons refuse to give a rod.
Faridpur Superintendent of Police Morshed Alam said in a press conference about the preparations for the incident, three cases have been registered in connection with the Panchpalli incident, 12 people have been arrested so far. Two of them have given a statement in court. The arrest list also includes two people seen in the video. All those seen in the video have been identified. Besides, operations are being conducted to arrest UP Chairman Shah Asaduzzaman and UP member Ajit Kumar Biswas. We hope to bring the chairman and members under the law as soon as possible.
