Dead bodies of husband and wife recovered from flat in Gazipur

The police recovered the bodies of husband and wife from a flat in Mulaid area of Gazipur Sripur upazila. The deceased Md. Israfil (17) of Haldi village of Jhenaigati police station of Sherpur. Mofizul Haque’s son and Mocha. Rokeya Khatun (15) is the daughter of Abul Kashem of Pastari village of Ishwarganj police station, Mymensingh. son
Two bodies were recovered on Friday (April 26) morning.
Police and local residents said that Israfil used to live in a rented house with his family in Mulaid area of Sripur upazila. While there, he developed a romantic relationship with Rokeya. At one stage Israfil and Rokeya got married 7-8 months ago without the family. Later, Israfil left the house with his wife. At one point his family brought Israfil back home with his wife.
Later, the couple Israfil and Rokeya live on rent in a flat on the ground floor of a multi-storied building next door. Israfil worked in a workshop and Rokeya in a garment factory. On Friday morning, their family members entered their flat after finding the door open. At that time, the family members saw Israfil’s hanging body with a fan wrapped around her neck and Rokeya’s body lying on the bed. When the police were informed, they went to the spot and recovered the body.
Mofizul Haque, the father of the deceased Israfil, said that they lived together in the flat. They did the family cooking in Israfil’s flat. On Friday morning, he found the door of Israfil’s flat open and went inside to find Israfil hanging wrapped in a veil and Rokeya’s body on the bed. A note was later found on the side.
The note read, ‘Parents forgive me, I could not stay with you. My life hangs for me. So I couldn’t stay. I don’t blame anyone. No one is at fault. My soul is waiting for me. Everyone will be fine. Md. Israfil.
Mother, bury Rocare next to me, mother. Mother, I don’t know why my life was leaked. I am fully responsible for that. No one is to blame for this.’
Sripur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Sakhawat Hossain said that the dead bodies of the husband and wife have been recovered. It is initially believed that they committed suicide. The matter is being investigated. Legal action in this regard is under process.
