One person died of snake bite in Shariatpur

A person named Imamul Bepari (32) died of snake bite in Sakhipur police station of Vedarganj upazila of Shariatpur.

He was bitten by a snake around 12:30 pm on Thursday (April 25).

Imamul Bepari is the son of Razzak Bepari of Kandi village of Anu Sarkar in Sakhipur Union of Sakhipur Thana. Imamul is the youngest among four brothers and three sisters.

According to local residents, Imamul returned home on Thursday night after a family event in Bepari village. Due to intense heat in the house, he sat in the air on the road in front of the house around 12:30 pm. Then he was bitten by a snake. At that time, when he screamed, the people around came and saw the snake bite marks on his right leg. Later he was tied with a rope and taken to Vedarganj Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there sent him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. Imamul’s relatives took him home as there was no antivenom injection at Sadar Hospital. Later today (Friday) morning, when he was taken to Chandpur Sadar Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead around 10 am.

Khokon Mia, a resident of Kandi village in Anu Sarkar and a friend of Imamul, said that Imamul was sitting on the road in front of his house at night when a poisonous snake bit him. He later died in hospital. His death has created fear of snakes among the locals. The UP member of Ward No. 9 of Sakhipur Union Parishad confirmed the matter on the phone and said that the residents are in fear due to the emergence of snakes and insects in the hot summer. It is believed that Imamul died after being bitten by a poisonous snake.

Dr. Shariatpur district headquarters hospital supervisor. Habibur Rahman said, probably the antivenom injection has ended. I asked the person in charge to bring antivenom from the upazila hospital. I see this.
