Sunamganj court sentenced husband Iqbal Mia to life imprisonment for killing his wife on suspicion of adultery in Doarabazar, Sunamganj.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Jhalak Roy of Sunamganj Court gave this judgment on Thursday (April 25) afternoon.

The accused Iqbal is the son of Ramzan Ali of Ustegergaon village of Banglabazar union of Mia upazila.

It is known that on June 13, 2017, the body of a housewife named Monoara Begum was found in the forest south of Bholakhali river in Kiranpara village of Banglabazar union of the upazila. In this incident, Amena Khatun, the mother of the victim filed an anonymous case at Doarabazar police station on June 17. After the case, the police started investigating the shadow. At one stage of the investigation, the police found the involvement of husband Iqbal Mia in the murder.

Four years before the incident, Iqbal Miar, son of Ramzan Ali of Ustegergaon village of the same union, was married to Manoara Begum, daughter of Maina Mia of Kiranpara village of Banglabazar union of the upazila. Even though married life is going well after marriage, husband Iqbal Miya has to go to jail in some incident.

According to police sources, after getting out of jail, Iqbal had a conflict with his wife Manwara Begum on suspicion of adultery. The killer husband Iqbal took his wife Monoara Begum to the south forest of the Bholakhali river in the area of ​​his father-in-law’s house and covered it up. The investigating officer of the case, SI Md Al Mamun, filed a charge sheet in the court on December 17, 2013 accusing Iqbal in this incident.

After a long day of evidence in this case, on Thursday (April 25), Additional District and Sessions Judge Jhalak Ray of the learned Judicial Court of Sunamganj sentenced Iqbal Mia to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000 for the murder of his wife. Satisfied with this verdict, the lawyer of the state side APP Suhail Ahmed Chail said that justice has been established in this verdict.

However, the lawyer of the defendant said that he will appeal to the high court expressing dissatisfaction with the verdict.
