Police recovered the dead bodies of husband and wife named Israfil and Rokeya from a multi-storied building flat in Mulaid village of Sripur upazila of Gazipur. Seeing the note lying next to the body, it is initially assumed that it is suicide.
On Friday (April 26) morning, the bodies of the husband and wife were recovered from a room on the ground floor of Farooq Khan’s multi-storied building in Begunbari area of Mulaid village.
Deceased Israfil Mia (18) son of Mofizul Mia of Haldi village of Jhenaigati police station of Sherpur and Rokeya Khatun (17) daughter of Abul Kashem of Pastari village of Ishwarganj police station of Mymensingh. For a long time, they used to work in a workshop in Israfil locality and in a factory in Rokeya locality from the rented house of Farooq Hossain in Mulaid village of Sripur.
Borhan Uddin, elder brother of the deceased Rokeya, said, “Israfil and Rokeya were missing after getting married 7-8 months ago without the permission of the family. Later, they were found at the police station and discussed with both the families. Since then, their relationship was good. Husband – There was no quarrel between Israfil and his parents and he was not home for 4 days. I did not talk to them yesterday.
The deceased’s mother said that she found the door of the younger sister Israfil’s flat open on Friday morning and went inside. At that time we came to the room when we saw Israfil hanging wrapped in a veil and Rokeya’s body lying on the bed and screamed. Meanwhile Rokeya’s body was stiff. Later a note was found next to them.
The note read, “Parents, forgive me, I couldn’t stay with you. My life was hanging for me. So I couldn’t stay. I don’t blame anyone. No one is to blame. My life is waiting for me.” I don’t know why I’m not responsible for that.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station Akbar Ali Khan told Jayzadeen that after getting information, the bodies of the husband and wife were recovered from the spot. Based on the analysis of the body’s signs and the note next to the body, it is initially believed to be suicide. Legal action is ongoing”.
