In Chittagong former SP Babul Akhtar’s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu’s murder case, the interrogation of her mother Shaheda Musharraf has ended. 49 people testified in the case including Shaheda Musharraf. This testimony was taken in the court of Chittagong’s Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Jasim Uddin on Thursday. Court bench assistant Neshar Ahmed said that the interrogation of Mitu’s mother Shaheda Musharraf in the murder case has ended. A total of 49 people have completed their testimony in the case. The court has fixed the next hearing of the case on May 13. On the morning of June 5, 2016, Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was brutally murdered by gunfire and stabbing while on his way to drop his son in the school bus at OR Nizam Road near GEC Junction in the city. In that incident, her husband then SP Babul Akhtar filed a murder case at Panchlaish police station. The case was being investigated by the Nagar DB police. Later in January 2020, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) was given the charge of investigating the case ‘on the orders of the court’. After that, the nature of the case began to turn. Various aspects of Babul Akhter’s involvement with the murder of his wife started to emerge in the PBI investigation. On May 10, 2021, Babul Akhtar was called to the PBI Chittagong Metro office for questioning as the plaintiff in the case. After that PBI took him into custody. Mitu’s father Mosharraf Hossain filed a murder case against eight people at the city’s Panchlaish Police Station, making Babul Akhtar the main accused on May 12 afternoon. After the investigation, the PBI submitted a 2,84-page charge sheet to the court against Babul Akhtar and seven people in the case. After that, the court ordered to start the trial by framing charges against the accused. Mitu’s father Mosharraf Hossain gave the first testimony in the case.
