A tractor driver named Nazrul Islam (40) died after his self-driven car overturned and was crushed under the car in Chilmari, Kurigram. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Rajarvita Telipara area of the upazila on the water development board road. The deceased Nazrul Islam is said to be the son of deceased Bhola Mamud of Fakirekuti area of Thanahat Union of Upazila. According to local eyewitness sources, as the work of filling soil on the flood control dam road of the Water Development Board was going on, several tractors were bringing soil from far away and dumping it on the dam road like every day. Nazrul, the driver of Telipara area, was turning the car by throwing dirt on the barred road that day. Suddenly the car lost control and fell down the road. When the engine of the car overturned, the driver Nazrul was crushed under the engine and died on the spot. Later, the locals recovered the dead body of Nazrul from under the car and sent it home. Many of the eyewitnesses said that the car had brake failure earlier and a helper of that car named Ershadul Haq died last Friday when the same car ran over him. The owner of the 6-wheel tractor is Harunur Rashid Mithu of Rajarvita area. Officer in charge of Chilmari Model Police Station.
