Buyers or sellers happily tell people that price. And the market where cattle and buffaloes are raised also has a price or rent. The two City Corporations of Dhaka fix that price through leases. This time, the rental price of vacant space in Uttara Diabari sector 16 and 18 Bau Bazar area of DNCC is the highest and the lowest rental price is the space of Kanchkura Beparipara Rahman Nagar residential project in Ward No. 44.
This time, the sacrificial animal market will be held at 20 places in the capital. Among them, 11 temporary animal huts will be set up in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, and 9 temporary animal huts will be set up in the North City Corporation (DNCC) area. Besides, sacrificial animals will also be bought and sold at these 2 permanent markets, Gabtali of Dhaka North City Corporation and Sarulia of Dhaka South City Corporation.
All in all, before Eid al-Adha, there is a festive atmosphere in the capital centered around animal markets. Various animals including cows and goats from different parts of the country are brought for sale in the markets of the capital. Animal markets become busy with the presence of buyers and sellers. To add more dimension to all such events, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Azha, haats are going to be set up at different places in the capital.
Markets that will sit in the South City area
Dhaka South City Corporation has issued a lease notice for setting up 11 temporary huts on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Apart from this, there is a market in Saruliya throughout the year in the South City area. This is their permanent hat.
Among the 11 temporary haats this time are- North Shahjanpur Khilgaon Railgate Bazar, Vacant area adjacent to Maitri Sangh Club, Open area adjacent to Institute of Leather Technology College, Vacant area adjacent to Postagola Cremation Ghat, Vacant area adjacent to Meradia Bazar, Kamalapur with vacant area adjacent to Little Friends Club. Vacant area around Bishwa Road adjacent to stadium, Vacant area around Donia College, Open area adjacent to Dholaikhal Truck Terminal, Aftab Nagar (Eastern Housing) Block E, F, G, H, Section 1 & 2 Vacant area, Vacant area around Amulia Model Town , vacant land adjacent to Rahmatganj Club and vacant land adjacent to Shyampur Kadmatoli Truck Stand.

North Shahjanpur Khilgaon Railway Gate Bazar Maitri Sangh Club adjacent to the market value of vacant space is estimated at 1 crore 3 million 23 thousand 867 taka and the schedule price is 26 thousand 800 taka. Besides, the cleaning fee of the market has been fixed at 6 lakh 51 thousand 194 taka.
The price of the market in the open area adjacent to the Institute of Leather Technology College has been estimated at Tk 3 crore 33 lakh 11 thousand 611. The schedule price of the hut is 67 thousand and the cleaning fee is 16 lakh 55 thousand 581 taka.
The official price of the hut in the empty space adjacent to the Postagola cremation ground is Tk 2 crore 23 lakh 31 thousand 256, the schedule price of the hut is Tk 45 thousand 400 and the cleaning fee is Tk 11 lakh 16 thousand 563.

Regarding the huts, a property officer of Dhaka South City Corporation said on condition of anonymity, initially we published the lease notice for these 11 huts and determined the official price of the huts. However, the authority can cancel any hut from the list or add new huts.
There will be 9 huts in North City
In addition to Gabtali permanent haat under Dhaka North City Corporation, the agency will set up 9 more temporary haats. For that purpose they have published the lease notice of the huts.
This year’s temporary haats include – Vatara Sutivola Canal Adjacent Vacant (Vatara Sutivola), Kaola Sealdanga Adjacent Vacant, Uttara Diabari Sector 16 & 18 Bau Bazar Area Vacant, Badda Eastern Housing Aftabnagar Block E, F, G, H, L , M, N and surrounding areas, Mirpur Section 6 Ward No. 6 (Eastern Housing) Vacant Land, Mohammadpur Bachilhar 40 Feet Road Adjoining Vacant Land, Dhaka Polytechnic Institute Adjacent Vacant Land, Ward No. 44 Kanchkura Beparipara Rahman Nagar Residential Project Site and Khilkhet Vacant area of neighborhood adjacent to Mastul Checkpost of Police Station Ward No. 43.
What is the price of any market in North City?
A cleaning fee of 10 percent of the government price or lease price of each temporary haat in the area under North City has to be paid. Bhatara Sutivola canal adjacent to the vacant land (Bhatara Sutivola) market value has been estimated at 3 crore 70 lakhs and the non-negotiable schedule price has been estimated at 74 thousand 600 taka.
The market value of vacant land adjacent to Kaola Sealdanga is estimated at 1 crore 37 lakh 500 taka and the schedule price is 28 thousand 100 taka.
Uttara Diabari, Sector 16 and 18, Bau Bazar area, the market value of the vacant space has been estimated at Tk 6 crore and the schedule price Tk 1 lakh 20 thousand 600.
Badda Eastern Housing Aftabnagar Block E, F, G, H, L, M, N and surrounding area market price is 1 crore 74 lakh 2 thousand 727 taka and schedule price is 35 thousand 500 taka.

Dhaka South City Corporation Chief Property Officer Dr. Mohammad Mahe Alam said, initially we published the lease notice for setting up these 9 huts. However, the authority can cancel or add any haat.
He also said that we are also working to encourage buyers and sellers to buy and sell animals online. Fund withdrawal, remittance, transfer initiatives are undertaken using the vendor’s online platform and ATM booths.
Tension between two cities over Aftabnagar, society’s letter to close the market
Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation have issued separate lease notices regarding the Aftabnagar haat on border-centric issues. Badda Eastern Housing i.e. awarded tenders to two organizations for setting up a sacrificial animal hut in a few blocks of Aftab Nagar. As a result, a tug of war has started between the two city corporations over a market in Aftab Nagar.
On the other hand, the setting up of animal stalls during the sacrifices creates various civil problems in the area – Zahurul Islam City Society (Aftabnagar Society) has written a letter to the two city corporations of Dhaka not to set up stalls in Aftab Nagar or to not allow stalls. Two separate letters signed by Jahurul Islam City Society President Mohammad Alamgir Hossain Dhali and General Secretary SM Kamal have been sent to the Mayors of the two City Corporations of Dhaka.
