Three new judges appointed to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will take oath today.

On Thursday (April 25) at 10:30 am, Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan will administer the oath to the three new judges at the judges’ lounge of the Supreme Court.

The newly appointed judges are – Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz, Justice Md. Shahinur Islam and Justice Kashefa Hossain.

According to Article 95(1) of the Constitution, the President appointed three new judges in the Appellate Division on Wednesday (April 24). Sahabuddin A notification signed by Golam Sarwar, Secretary, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs was issued after the President made the appointment.

According to the notification, Article 95(1) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency the President has appointed three judges working in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh as Judges of the Appellate Division from the day of their swearing in. This appointment will be effective after taking oath.

At present there are five judges in the Appellate Division including the Chief Justice. With the appointment of these three new judges, the number of judges of the Appellate Division stood at eight.
