The Fire Service brought under control the fire in a cotton godown in Telipara area of Gazipur City Corporation Basan Police Station.
Abdullah Arefin, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, confirmed this to The Daily Star at 7 am on Thursday.

He said that the fire that broke out in the cotton godown at around 12 o’clock yesterday night was extinguished at around 3 o’clock in the night.
Cotton, factory machinery and jute were burnt in the fire, the fire service said.
Factory owner Yasin said that the fire started suddenly. The fire service was later informed. After receiving the news, they quickly reached the spot.
Robin Mia, duty officer of Gazipur’s Joydevpur Fire Service, told Daily Star that two units of Gazipur’s Chowrasta Fire Service started working on Wednesday night. As the intensity of the fire increased, the officials of Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Station informed the in-charge of Joydevpur Fire Station, Samad Miah. Later Samad Miah came to the spot with two more units.
He also said that the cause of the accident will be investigated and reported.
