Mother and son died on the way home after a relative’s funeral

A mother and son died in a road accident while returning home on a motorcycle after a relative’s funeral. On Wednesday (April 24) at noon, an accident occurred at Hemant intersection in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.

The deceased are Abul Kalam’s wife Pinjira Begum (55) and her son Abul Arif Islam Arez (33) of Center Mor area of ​​Dhakara Union of the upazila.

Police and locals said that Arif’s aunt died on Tuesday (April 23) night. On Wednesday morning, Pinjira Begum and her son Arif came to Binodpur area of ​​Rajshahi city to attend the funeral. Mother and son were returning home on a motorcycle after the funeral prayers. On the way, the motorcycle collided with the passenger bus coming from the opposite direction when it reached the Hemant junction of the Charghat-Bagha regional highway.

Later, mother and son were rescued by fire service and locals and first taken to Upazila Health Complex, doctors referred them to Rajshahi Medical College (Ramek) Hospital. After reaching Ramek Hospital, son Arif Islam and mother Pinjira Begum died around 2:30 PM and mother Pinjira Begum died around 4 PM.

Charghat Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Afzal Hossain said that a case has been filed on behalf of the family of the victim. The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem after taking legal action.
