EC meeting with DC-SP today
MM Lincoln: [২] The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting on Thursday (April 25) with all the District Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), Divisional Commissioners and others to determine what to do for the upcoming sixth Upazila Parishad elections. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal presided over this meeting at 11:00 am, four other commissioners, secretaries and other related officials will be present in this meeting along with all departmental commissioners, deputy inspector general of police and regional election officers.
[৩] Recently EC Deputy Secretary Atiyar Rahman sent instructions to attend the meeting.
[৪] The directive has been sent to Ministry of Public Administration, Senior Secretary of Public Security Department, Cabinet Secretary, Inspector General of Police, all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Inspector General of Police, all DCs and SPs.
[৫] The Election Commission has already announced the three-phase schedule of the Upazila Parishad elections, which will be held in four phases.
[৬] The EC has already completed the filing and selection of nomination papers for the first phase of the election as per the schedule. There are 1,786 valid candidates, appeal against the decision of the returning officer from 18 to 20 April. Appeal disposal 21 April, last date for withdrawal of candidature 22 April. Symbols will be allotted on April 23, and voting in 150 upazilas will be held on May 8.
[৭] According to the schedule, polling in 161 upazilas of the second phase will be held on May 21. As per the schedule in the third phase, polling in 112 upazilas will be held on May 29.
