173 Bangladeshis have returned to the country after serving different terms in Myanmar prisons. They arrived at Nunyarchhara Ghat in Cox’s Bazar city around 1:20 PM on Wednesday.

A ship of the Bangladesh Navy brought these Bangladeshis to Nunyarchhara Ghat from a ship named ‘Naval Ship Chin Duin’ of the Myanmar Defense Force stationed in the deep sea.

Officials said that out of these 173 people returned to Myanmar, 129 are from Cox’s Bazar district, 30 from Bandarban, seven from Rangamati, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Narayanganj, Chittagong, Rajbari, Narsingdi and Nilphamari districts.

Superintendent of Police of Cox’s Bazar Mahafuzul Islam said that the BGB will accept the returnees and hand them over to the police. After that, after verification, the process of handing over the relatives will be done through the police of each police station.

Earlier on Wednesday around 11:00 AM, the advance Myanmar delegation which brought the Bangladeshis arrived in Cox’s Bazar in a special trawler. After reaching Cox’s Bazar, the team took a car from the ghat and left for Naikshyongchari Upazila of Bandarban. Where 285 members of the Myanmar Army and Border Guard Police (BGP) who fled to Bangladesh are under the BGB.

The delegation has gone through the process of taking them back. Later on Thursday morning, the team will return to Myanmar with the sheltered army and BGP members.

Among the BGP and army personnel who took refuge in Bangladesh, 24 people escaped in one day on April 19, 64 on April 16, 14 on April 14, 3 on March 30 and 177 on March 1.

Earlier, in early February, another 330 people took refuge in Bangladesh in several rounds. Those who were sent back to Myanmar on February 15.

During the first phase of the return, the media persons entered the spot and the concerned people spoke, but this time it is not happening. However, after completing the process of accepting the returned Bangladeshis and sending back Myanmar’s BGP and army personnel, it is said that the details will be given in a press briefing on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, 173 Bangladeshis returned home on Wednesday after serving their sentences in Myanmar prisons. These Bangladeshis returned from Sittwe Prison in Myanmar’s Rakhine-Arakan State after serving their sentence. 285 members of the Myanmar Army and Border Guard Police, who fled to Bangladesh due to the ongoing civil war, will return to Myanmar on the ship in which the Bangladeshis returned.

However, according to the news published in the media by the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon, the Myanmar Naval Ship ‘Chin Duin’ will take back the members of the Myanmar Defense Forces who were forced to come to Bangladesh across the border due to the conflict in Rakhine State.
The ship reached Bangladesh territory by Wednesday and handed over the Bangladeshi nationals to the concerned authorities in Bangladesh.

And on Thursday morning, a Bangladeshi ship will go to the sea with 285 members of the Myanmar Army and Border Guard Police (BGP) who have fled to Bangladesh and they will be handed over to the Myanmar ship.

These Bangladeshis were picked up in Bangladeshi ships from Myanmar ships from the deep sea. The Bangladeshi ship will be brought to Nunia’s Rama Ghat in Cox’s Bazar city. 285 members of Myanmar will be taken from that wharf in the same process.

Among those who returned to Myanmar, 24 new people fled in one day on April 19, 64 people on April 16, 14 people on April 14, 3 people on March 30 and 177 BGP and army personnel escaped on March 1. Meanwhile, according to informed circles, Bangladesh has fostered about 1.5 million Rohingyas in the last 7 years. Now Bangladeshi citizens are facing casualties on the border every day due to the internal war in Myanmar. Hundreds of Myanmar Army-BGP members in Bangladesh on this occasion. By keeping them in their hands, they could be sued for compensation. But they do not think it is appropriate for the government to send the fleeing law enforcement officers back to their son-in-law like this.
