Child drowned in river while bathing with mother

A child named Rhea Moni (05) drowned while taking a bath with her mother in the Mathabhanga river at Darshana police station in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga.

This incident took place in Mathabhanga river in Darshana Jayanagar village at around 3 o’clock on Wednesday, April 24.

Eyewitnesses said that around 3 pm on Wednesday, the daughter of Kechmat Ali of Darshana Jayanagar village, Reamni, insisted that she would go to the river to bathe with her mother. Later his mother took him to bathe in Mathabhanga river in Jayanagar village. While taking a bath, due to mother’s carelessness, baby Riya drowned. Later the mother started searching for the drowned baby girl under the water. At that time, hearing the mother’s screams, the people around came and searched for some time after rescuing her from under the water and taking her to the hospital.

Darshana police station OC Biplab Kumar Saha confirmed the truth of the incident.
