RAB has arrested seven accused from Mohipal of Feni in the case of hacking and shooting a young man at gunpoint in Cox’s Bazar.
In a press conference organized at RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Battalion office on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon, the senior assistant director of the battalion, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Hossain Shamim.
The arrested are – son of Aktar Ahmad of Malumghat East Dumkhali area of Dulahajra Union of Chakaria Upazila. Nurul Alam (32), son of Chayed Alam. Shah Alam (27), son of Noor Ahmed Abu Bakkar (27), son of deceased Siddique Ahmed. Azizul Haque (40), Syed Ahmed’s son Mansoor Alam (32), Ibrahim Khalil’s son Md. Nurul Anwar (33), son of Abu Hanif (32) and Aktar Ahmad.
According to RAB sources, on Tuesday evening, a team of RAB conducted an operation on the information about the location of some accused in the case including the main planner and main accused in the case in Mohipal area of Feni district. There, 7 accused accused were arrested while hiding from a residential house.
Citing the statement of the case, Anwar Hossain said that on the evening of March 25, Abdur Rahman was preparing for Iftar with his friends in a shop of East Dumkhali Station of Dulahajra Union in Chakria. Meanwhile, a group of miscreants took him away at gunpoint. He was later hacked and shot dead. In this incident, Sabina Yasmin, the wife of the deceased, filed a case at Chakaria police station, naming 19 people and accusing 34 people.
He also said that after the filing of the case, along with the police, RAB also started an operation to arrest those involved in the incident. At some point on Tuesday evening, RAB received information that some of the alleged accused, including the main planner of the incident, Mansoor Alam, were hiding in the Mohipal area of Feni district. Later a team of RAB raided there and arrested 7 people. The arrested accused have been handed over to Chakaria police station.
