In Feni, the price of dubbing has increased in line with the demand

--

Like the rest of the country, Feni is also experiencing intense heat. Due to the intense heat of the past few days, the demand for dub has increased, and the price of dub has also increased. The sellers say that the demand for dub in the market is high. However, due to the low supply, the market price is upward. Small size dubs are being sold at Tk 100 to Tk 120 with an increase of Tk 60. On the other hand, medium and large size dubs are being sold from Tk 150 to Tk 200. Buyers consider it a record price.

On Wednesday (April 24) Feni city’s Trunk Road, Nazir Road, Shaheed Shahidullah Kaiser Road, College Road and Sadar Hospital Junction, Muktbazar area were seen to be crowded with buyers at every Dub shop. Although the price is high, people of various professions buy and eat dab to beat the heat exhaustion.

Rifat sells dabs in Nazir Road area of the city. He told Barta24.com that after the Eid holidays, the wholesalers have increased the price of the box by Tk 30 to Tk 60. I have never seen such a high price in business in the last year. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, prices were not so high. Buying at a higher price means selling at a higher price.

Esanul Haque, a dub seller of Muktabazar, said that the demand was always low after Eid, but this time the demand has increased due to the intense heat wave. The suppliers bought dub from the manufacturers at a higher price, and therefore the price of dub in the wholesale market is increasing, said the seller.

A buyer named Safwan said, traders in our country increase the price when they get an opportunity. Garam Dub is no exception. Still, I bought a dub for 140 taka for my mother in the hospital. I can’t buy it no matter what the price.

Talked to another buyer named Sahabuddin at the hospital intersection of the city. About the market price of dubbing, he said, there is no good dubbing below 120 taka. Came here for some relief as it’s getting hot. Prices are almost the same in all shops.

Abdul Latif, a retail trader in Nazir Road area of the city, said that during the last few days in summer, 30-40 dabs are being sold more than usual. However, due to the shortage of dubbing in the market, the price is slightly higher. We sell at a slightly higher price than what we normally buy at the retail level. We have nothing to do with price hikes at the retail level.

A businessman named Abdul Hakim of Feni Mohipal fruit market said that the dubbs sold in Feni town are mainly from Noakhali and Laxmipur area. A few dabs come from Sonagazi, the coastal upazila of the district. There is no doubt about the dub here. On certain days of the week, the dubs are brought by truck and distributed to retailers. In the last one week, the price of each box has increased by 40 to 50 rupees. Sales also increased.

Edab trader Qayyum of Shahid Shahidullah Kaiser road in the city said that 60 to 70 dabs are being sold every day in summer. Dub purchased from wholesale traders in Noakhali and Sonagazi region for Tk 110 to Tk 120, we are selling at Tk 130-140 at the retail level. However, during the cold season, the same dub is sold for 80 to 100 taka, he said.
