Dhaka: Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has given new instructions to prevent the fall in the capital market. A limit of 3 per cent has been imposed on share prices of all listed companies from now till further instructions. As a result, from now on, the shares of any company listed in the capital market will not be able to decrease by more than 3 percent in a day. However, the previous maximum limit has been maintained in the direction of increasing the share price. However, this new limit will not apply to companies on floor price. BSEC also said that this measure has been taken in the interests of investors.

On Wednesday (April 24), BSEC issued a directive in this regard. BSEC’s new directive will be implemented from Thursday (April 25). BSEC Executive Director and Spokesperson. Rezaul Karim confirmed this.

According to the BSEC guidelines, the share price of a company can fall by a maximum of 3 percent in a day. No one can sell or buy shares at a lower price than this. Earlier, the price could fall from a minimum of 3.75 percent to a maximum of 10 percent in light of the market value of the shares. However, although the new limit for price reduction has been set, the previous limit for price increase remains in place. In the light of the previous day’s market price of the shares, the price can increase from a minimum of 3.75 percent to a maximum of 10 percent the next day.

It should be noted that the current circuit breaker system limits the price increase and decrease based on the share price. The limit is applied on the next day in light of the previous day’s closing price of any company’s shares. If the share price of a company is within Tk 200, the share price may increase or decrease by up to 10 percent the next day. 8.75 percent from Tk 200 to Tk 500, 7.50 percent from Tk 500 to Tk 1000, 6.25 percent from Tk 1000 to Tk 2000, 5 percent from Tk 2000 to Tk 5000 and If it is more than 5000 rupees, 3.75 percent may increase or decrease.
