At the press conference, the port chairman highlighted the progress of the port’s six new terminals, including four at the Bay Terminal. He informed that the visible work of these projects will start this year.

Referring to the biggest foreign investment in the history of Bangladesh, Bay Terminal, chairman of the port, Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail, said that among the four terminals of Bay Terminal, the biggest investment will be in the gas and oil discharge terminal. East Coast Group will implement this project jointly with foreign organizations. It will invest 350 million dollars. Three terminals for loading and unloading of containers and goods will be constructed. Among them, PSA International in Singapore and DP World in the Emirates will build and operate two separate terminals by investing $150 million. Abu Dhabi Ports has proposed building another multipurpose terminal, which could involve an investment of $1 billion. Apart from this, the process of investing 590 million dollars in the construction of waterways is underway.

The chairman of the port said that the construction work of the first deep sea port terminal in Bangladesh will start soon. He said, after getting the government approval, the construction work at the field level will start soon. Large ships can be accommodated in deep seaports.
