Chittagong Bureau: The police have arrested the killer bus driver in connection with the death of two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE). He was arrested by Rangunia Police Station from Kotwali area of the city on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon.
Arrested Tajul Islam (49) son of Abdul Khalil of Chikdair Union of Rauzar Upazila of Chittagong. He is a Shah Amanat Paribahan bus driver plying on the Chittagong-Kaptai road.
Chittagong Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Abu Taib Md. Arif Hossain told Sarabangla, ‘The driver of the bus that crushed Chuet students has been arrested. Arrested in the case filed in this incident, he was sent to court.
Last Monday (April 22) afternoon, a bus of Shah Amanat Paribahan hit a motorcycle on Chittagong-Kaptai road in Jianagar area of Pomra Union of Rangunia Upazila. There were 3 students of Chuet as riders on the motorcycle.
Among them, two students named Shanto Saha (20) and Taufiq Hossain (21) died on the spot. Shanto Chuet is a 20th batch student and Taufiq is a 21st batch student of Civil Engineering Department. Another student, Zakaria Himu, was seriously injured in the same incident and is undergoing treatment.
After the death of two classmates in an accident, the angry students of Chuet have been protesting by blocking the Chittagong-Kaptai road for the last three days.
