The Ministry of Commerce will announce the price of products on the website every day

The Ministry of Commerce will publish market-based retail and wholesale prices of essential commodities on its website from the first week of March. So that consumers can buy products at fair prices.

Under the pricing system, various ministries, including food, agriculture, fisheries and livestock, will provide a price list to the commerce ministry on a daily basis and the commerce ministry will review these prices for various markets.

A senior official of the Ministry of Commerce, who did not wish to be named, said that if the Ministry of Commerce thinks that the price of daily necessities in a market is high, then they will determine the price of the product and publish it on their website.

He also said. Otherwise they will not fix or change the price of any product, said the official.

Most of the staples covered under the pricing system are rice, flour, edible oil and some spice products.

The official gave this information after the meeting of the task force chaired by Ahsanul Islam Titu, State Minister of Commerce, in the meeting room of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat today.

The Commerce Ministry has the power to fix the prices of essential commodities in the Essential Commodities Act if it deems them to be expensive.

In response to a question from The Daily Star, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kanti Ghosh said in a WhatsApp message that the Ministry of Commerce has not taken any decision to determine the prices of 17 daily essential products yesterday.
