Son stabbed to death for not taking torn note, father in critical condition

A shopkeeper and his son were stabbed for not accepting torn 10 rupee notes in Mymensingh’s Tarakanda. In this incident, the son said. Iqbal was killed. Father Md. Sadek Munsi has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

The incident took place at Majial Bazar of Banihala Union of the upazila on Tuesday (April 23) around 8 pm.

The deceased Iqbal and his father Sadek Munshi were residents of Digharkanda village of Banihala union. He is a businessman in Majial Bazar.

Locals said that Sadiq Munshi was in the shop with his son Iqbal in the evening. Farooq Mia of the same village went to the shop to buy cigarettes around 8 pm. He bought a cigarette and gave a torn note of 10 rupees. Farooq gets angry when Iqbal asks to change the note. Farooq called his younger brother Parvez Mia when the two had an argument.

Later, at one stage of the conversation, Parvez hit Iqbal with a knife. At this time, Iqbal’s father Sadek also stabbed Munsi. Iqbal died on the way to the hospital. The seriously injured Sadek Munsi was sent to Dhaka from Mymensingh at 10 pm.

OC Md. Wazed Ali said that the father and son were stabbed because of an argument over giving torn money while buying cigarettes in the shop at around 8 pm. Iqbal died on the way to take seriously injured father and son to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Sadek Munshi was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Later he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

He said that two people have been taken into custody for questioning in this incident. However, Farooq Mia and Parvez Mia could not be arrested. The legal system is in process in this incident.
