Bangladesh needs $534 billion to combat climate change: Environment Minister

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said Bangladesh needs 534 billion dollars to combat climate change by 2050.

He said that international financial support is essential for the implementation of the climate plan. Bangladesh is committed to working with international partners to build climate resilience.

The environment minister said these things in a session of the National Adaptation Plan Expo-2024 on Tuesday (April 23) emphasizing on the progress of Bangladesh’s national climate plan.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to advance climate adaptation efforts and ensure a sustainable future for all citizens.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury stressed the importance of proactive action, collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to tackle climate change challenges. He also highlighted Bangladesh’s significant progress in developing and implementing the National Climate Plan and pointed out the country’s leadership in global climate adaptation.

Asaduzzaman.

In the session, Bangladesh National Adaptation Plan 2023-2050 was presented by Ministry Deputy Secretary Dharitri Kumar Sarkar and Director of Environment Directorate Mirza Shawkat Ali.
