Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that Bangladesh needs 534 billion dollars to combat climate change by 2050. Therefore, international financial support is essential for the implementation of the climate plan. Bangladesh is committed to working collaboratively with international partners to build climate resilience.
The Environment Minister said these things in a speech today at a session of the National Adaptation Plan Expo 2024, emphasizing on the progress of Bangladesh’s National Climate Plan.
The Minister emphasized on the importance of proactive action, collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to tackle climate change challenges. In his speech, he highlighted Bangladesh’s significant progress in developing and implementing the National Climate Plan, noting the country’s leadership in global climate adaptation.
The session was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Farhina Ahmed. Dharitri Kumar Sarkar, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, and Mirza Shaukat Ali, Director, Department of Environment, presented the Bangladesh National Adaptation Plan 2023-2050.
