The United States is preparing to give $1 billion worth of arms to Ukraine

The United States is preparing a $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine. Two US officials told Reuters on Tuesday.

The aid package includes vehicles, Stinger air defense ammunition, additional ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems, 155mm artillery ammunition, anti-tank ammunition and other weapons that can be used immediately on the battlefield, officials said.

President Joe Biden has asked the US Congress to provide $6.8 billion in aid for Ukraine. But Republicans in the House of Representatives have been refusing to vote on the bill for months. The House of Representatives passed the bill earlier this week.

On Tuesday, the Senate will vote on four aid bills, including Ukraine. One of these bills is for Ukraine, the second is $26 billion for Israel, the third is for $8.12 billion in the Indo-Pacific to ‘counter Communist China’ and the fourth is about a possible ban on the social media app TikTok.

Russia has stepped up long-range missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and its cities in recent weeks. Moscow’s forces have increased pressure on Kiev as they slowly advance eastward across the battlefield.
