Police recovered the body of Mithamain Upazila Chhatra League leader Mokhlesh Uddin after 25 days of abduction in Kishoreganj.
His body was recovered from Narsunda Lake City in the district town around 4 pm on Tuesday (April 23).
According to local sources, police and fire service diving teams conducted a rescue operation in the Narsunda river based on the information given by the suspected detainee. Finally, the body was recovered around 4 pm today.
The name of the killed Chhatra League leader is Mokhlesh Uddin Bhuiyan (25). He is the son of farmer Maqbul Hossain of Phulpur village of Keorjord union of Mithamain upazila of the district.

Mokhlesh Uddin Union Chhatra League Joint General Secretary. He recently completed his master’s degree in Bengali Department from Gurudayal Government College, Kishoreganj. Besides, he was working as an assistant to a peshkar in the district judge court.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Model Police Station, Mohammad Golam Mostafa, said that the half-melted body was found floating in the river from yesterday to today (Tuesday) around 4 pm. The body will be recovered and sent to Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Ashraf Ali, the elder brother of the deceased Mokhlesh Uddin Bhuiya, said that for three months, Mokhlesh lived in the house of Chunnu Mia in Harua Bou Bazar area of Kishoreganj. He went missing from his rented house on March 29 at around 9 pm. His last location was identified through CCTV camera footage of various establishments on the street. Some people are seen with him in this CCTV camera footage. He thinks they kidnapped him and killed him.

On the basis of CCTV camera footage, the police arrested Sheful Sheikh (65) and his three sons Mizan Sheikh (28), Marjan Sheikh (26) and Raihan Sheikh (21) from Shaistaganj in Habiganj district last Saturday (April 20) of Phulpur village, Kewarjur Union, Mithamin. Arrested around 11 o’clock. Later, when the accused were interrogated, they said that they had killed Mokhlesh and dumped the body in Narsunda river.
Kishoreganj District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russell Sheikh assured that those involved in this murder will be brought under the maximum punishment.
