Hefazete Islam Bangladesh strongly condemned and protested the brutal attack by the police on the peaceful procession of Tauhidi people in Faridpur.

In a message sent to the media on Tuesday (April 23), Allama Sheikh Sajidur Rahman, Secretary General of Hefazte Islam Bangladesh, said that two Muslim workers were brutally and cruelly killed on suspicion of setting fire to an idol of a temple in Madhukhali, Faridpur last Thursday. Five people were also seriously injured. In protest of this today, the Touhidi crowd and ordinary worshipers of Faridpur marched, the police attacked the Touhidi crowd and the worshippers. I strongly condemn and protest against this despicable behavior of the police in a peaceful program.

In the protest message, the Secretary General of Defense also said that the police fired indiscriminately on the worshipers during today’s protest march in Faridpur. So that about half a hundred devout worshipers were injured. One is in critical condition. Irresponsible actions of police officers are repeatedly tarnishing the law enforcement outfit. This behavior of the police cannot be the image of any democratic country. Due to such activities, public confidence in the police force has gone down to zero.

The Secretary General also said that we strongly demand from the government to bring the people involved in the killing of two Muslim workers of Madhukhali under the law through immediate judicial investigation and take legal action by identifying the policemen responsible for this heinous incident today. At the same time, I call upon the police administration to be respectful of their holy clothes and duties.

Besides, today, a delegation headed by Mufti Zakir Hussain Qasemi, Central Assistant Finance Secretary of Hefazte Islam Bangladesh, met the families of the two workers who were killed in the brutal incident in Madhukhali and expressed their cooperation and sympathy.

Also present at this time were Mufti Kamruzzaman, Director of Shamsul Uloom Faridpur Madrasa, Maulana Mohammad Ismail, Secretary of Imam Welfare Association, Shaikhul Hadis Mufti Abdul Qayyum of Char Kamalapur Madrasa, Hefazat Leader Mufti Abu Saeed, Maulana Kabir Ahmad, Maulana Ilyas Hussain, Hafez Asaduzzaman, Maulana Muhiuddin, Maulana Rabiul Islam, Hafez Maulana Asaduzzaman, Mufti Mahmudul Hasan and other local Ulamae Keram.
