According to police and local sources, on Tuesday afternoon, five people went on a dinghy boat trip to Ganga from Rishara in Hooghly. Among them was a woman. There were a total of six people in that boat including the sailor. The boat hit a barge in the Ganga between Uttarpara and Ariadah Ferry Ghat around 7 pm. The boat sank in the Ganges. Six people tried to swim to the shore after falling into the Ganga. Seeing it from a distance, the sailors went to the launch from Kheyaghat and rescued everyone one by one. The police of Uttarpara police station came to Kheyaghat after receiving the news. After that six people were taken to the police station.

The police said that all five people are known. He had a boating accident. All have been rescued.

Among the rescued passengers after the boat capsized, Pradeep Chakraborty said, “We were out for a walk. I was drinking on the boat. Suddenly what happened! They were saying, ‘Slowly!’ After that the boat overturned.” Another passenger Debanjan Bandyopadhyay said, ”We were out of Rishara around 4:30-5:00. Friends were coming together. Suddenly there was a collision with the barge. It was not known that Ganga Vihar could be dangerous in canoes. I did not expect to be able to return alive. We were saved by throwing a rope from a big boat.”
